MS Boston Volvo Thanksgiving Day 5K 2020

We're Going Virtual This Year!

As much as we love gathering together as a community on Thanksgiving morning, to keep everyone safe this year we have to change things up: our annual 5K is virtual for 2020!

No, that does not mean you 'virtually' run and head straight for the dining room! You instead decide to run or walk a 5K (or 10K) on your own course. You sign up for the race, download the Charity Miles app on your phone, and then head out at some point over the Thanksgivingholiday. You can run on your own, or better yet gather some family members and head out together. You use the App to track and complete your race.

While we won't be gathering together in person, we will be gathering together as a virtual community to help the National MS Society. Covid has hit all of us hard, but a charity such as MS has a lot to deal with since so much of their fundraising is through community gatherings and events. Our virtual 5K is a great way to help them fund their mission, while having something fun and healthy to do over a Thanksgiving which will be very different than normal for all of us.

And the great thing with a virtual race is that you can RUN or WALK on your own schedule, on your own course or loop, and since the race is virtual you can include anyone across the country! What a great way to get "together" for a great cause!

We have sponsored a 5K Road Race on Thanksgiving morning since 1998 and greatly enjoy working alongside the New England Chapter of the National MS Society to stage one of the area's most successful pre‑turkey trots.

"This run is a pleasant way to start off a happy holiday and work up an appetite for pumpkin pie. On a day dedicated to the loved ones around us, I'm glad I can run with my family."
